Audi Quattro 35 years
14 december 2014
The Audi Quattro introduced in 1980 at the Geneva Motor Show combined the newest technological developments of that time – the 5-cylinder turbo engine with intercooler and the revolutionary 'Quattro' permanent four-wheel drive system.
Since then Audi has continued to produce Quattro models, and in July 2014 the 6 millionth car rolled off the production line. For this occasion, the Audi Heritage club is presenting a special exhibition on the history of the Quattro, with which Audi has been able to elevate itself to the level of the premier manufacturers.
From 13 December until the end of January the visitor has the opportunity to discover a number of exceptional cars: a VW Iltis, the replica of the red Quattro from the 1980 press tests; a 214 Sport Quattro (short version); a 90 Quattro from 1985; an authentic Quattro group 4 that took part in the 1985 Paris-Dakar rally; and a 200 group A and its support vehicle, a VW LT.
Two exceptional cars form the high point of the exhibition: the authentic V8 Procar of the Team Belga that became champion in 1991 and 1992, and the unique GT coupé Kamei of Lotterer.
